Vostok Amphibia Classic 150348 Mod
It has been a while since I last posted as I haven’t really had anything incoming (I would love to know if there are any new Special Editions coming out from Meranom!). I did buy an old Komandirskie 53 recently, which arrived with indecent haste from Ukraine, for which I am trying to find a suitable strap. I will post some photographs when I do.
This classic Vostok Amphibia 150 with the cool wavy green dial wasn’t getting much wrist time, so I thought it was time that I had a little play with it. You can ready my original review of this watch here.

Vostok Amphibia Classic 150348 Mod / After
As usual, I hesitate to call this a mod, it is just a simple bezel swap and strap change, but here it is. The original bezel is good, I like the design, but it is pretty shiny, perhaps it could do with a bit of a polish. The bezel with pre-fitted shiny, green insert was from Komandirskie.com and cost 950 rubles (around £12). Great value at this price, I think you’ll agree. There are also usually a few other colours available, I have a couple of yellow ones too. It was a struggle to get the original bezel off and the new bezel on. It took some time, perhaps I am just getting a bit rusty!
I thought this would look good on a brown leather, rally-style strap. This one came from WatchGecko. They have a very good selection of good quality straps at pretty good prices. I am sure I bought this on sale, I don’t think paid full price for it. I think that this bezel and strap combination gives the watch a pretty 1970s feel. A good watch for this summer. What do you think?
Nice result! I prefer the new green bezel to the old one. Have you thought about swapping the second hand to add a third color to the watch? I also have one strap from WatchGecko and am very happy with it.
Thanks. I haven’t got round to replacing hands yet. I tried it once and bent the hands!
BTW, I have added a link to your blog on my links page.
Haha. My modding / repairing skills are at a similar level. My best feat so far is trying to replace a battery on a Seiko with 8f56 quartz movement. Ended up having to replace the movement too 🙂
And thanks for the link! Highly appreciated.
I have all the kit now, just still a little scared to get into it. I have a few HMT watches I have been practicing on. These are amazing value, you can pick them up for about £10 on Ebay, but they are a little small on my wrist!
Perhaps another idea for an article for you. There is a great white dial, blue hands combination which I have never seen at a sensible price.
